MRP Recognised at the 2016 World Rugby Awards

Last week in London we were thrilled that the MRP was recognised at 2016 World Rugby Awards.

Whilst the MRP didn't win the Rugby Character Award, it was such an honour to be invited and to hear how highly regarded the program is within World Rugby. Thank you so much to everyone at World Rugby for your support!

World Rugby produced a short video about the MRP which was shown along the other two finalists.

For the next 4 days, we were also invited to do a series of presentations across Devon which were very well received.

We were thrilled that through the power of social media, we connected with Tracey Dukes from Mini's Academy in Exeter who coordinated all these amazing opportunities.

Over two days, we shared the MRP story at Topsham RFC with Tracey Alison and Nicolas Sestaret from Mini’s Academy Bea Jenkins from the club as well as coaches Jo Habgood and Ben Thomas, Lorraine Harris and Tom Mack from Active Devon, Mike Brooks from Devon RFU and Newton Abbot RFC and Rob Masters and Wayne Reed from National RFU.

We were then lucky enough to be given a guided tour of Sandy Park by Andrew Dudley from Exeter Chiefs and we also met the Chiefs’ Team Manager Tony Walker.

We also presented to Alex Stevens at Somerset Sports and Activity Partnership.

It was truly inspiring to see so many people working to find ways to integrate people with disabilities into sport.

The level of interest in the UK shows there is a growing understanding globally about the contribution that children with learning and perceptual disabilities make when integrated into the community through rugby.
